About the WRG e-Science Centre of Excellence

The mission:

The White Rose Grid e-Science Centre of Excellence is to be an international leader in the provision and delivery of Grid technology and services.

 

Its main objectives, to be achieved within the White Rose Universities and regionally, are as follows:

• e-Science research:  to strengthen, in partnership with industry, e-Science research. The focus is on the following core areas: real-time distributed design support and diagnostic services and real-time distributed collaborative visualisation services;

• scientific communities: the Centre aims to support and enlarge new scientific communities including bio-technology, aerospace, tissue engineering, and healthcare;

• outreach: the Centre develops White Rose research excellence and its relevance to knowledge by collaborating with regional universities and appropriate science based companies;

• market assessment: WRG is committed to assessing potential regional demand on Grid technology, in collaboration with Yorkshire Forward and our IT partners;

• Grid & other communities:  the Centre is to be an effective partner in the Worldwide University Network and other national (e.g. UK e-Science) and international networks.
